Nowadays, many corporate firms and private entrepreneurs are paying close attention to the promotion of voluntary activities, providing services for society without requesting any financial gain. Apparently, both individuals and groups of people have determined to devote themselves to volunteering, a move which intends to socially promote a better quality of life of people living in certain communities.
The Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA), which is wholly responsible for protecting consumers, ensuring that they will always be safe using and consuming health products, has determined to announce the launch of its Oryor Volunteer to encourage people to have a keen awareness of voluntary work, while at the same time strengthening consumers’ potential in living together with public health standards. Groups of Thai FDA volunteers can reach people in various communities to earnestly acknowledge their problems. Obviously, university students are the major target of the campaign.
Objectives of the project are explained below.
This voluntary project was implemented for the first time in 2016 under the “Thai FDA Volunteer Team” concept, focusing mainly on chronic issues such as hazardous consumption of personally-selected pharmaceutical drugs, steroidal cough mixture, and health products with exaggerated advertising campaigns for local people. University-based candidates who are qualified from the first stage will be required to participate in a training program to ensure they are equipped with precise knowledge of health products. With the committee members’ consideration, successful volunteers will be advanced to the second stage and presented with financial support to facilitate all implementation processes required by the project. Additionally, the progress of implementation will be reported to the Thai FDA committee to determine the best project achievement. The winner will be honored with a volunteer spirit medal, financial support, and certificate of honor aiming to build up encouragement and pride in joining the project, considered a role model in providing knowledge on quality health products for people in different communities and offering good things to society.
